New features of USB 4 Version 2.0 announced: Speeds up to 120Gbit

The new features and certification logos of USB4 Version 2.0, which was introduced last month, were shared. The new standard increases image transfer rates to 120Gbit.

Here are the details:

USB management association USB-IF shared the new features and certification logos of USB 4 V2.0, which was introduced last month. The new standard, which brought data transfer rates to 80Gbps when it was first introduced, is 120 Gbit asymmetric for new logos and screens.

Consumers will be offered special certificate logos

As it is known, USB4 2.0, which uses USB-C ports and has backward compatibility with old hardware, carries data transfer rates to 80Gbps levels with passive cables that support the existing 40 Gbps standard. It will be able to support up to 4K 240Hz or 10K 60Hz.

In addition, USB-IF shares new certification logos for USB4 Version 2.0 showing transfer rates and wattage, allowing manufacturers to offer USB 40 Gbps, USB 20 Gbps and USB 80 Gbps products. Considering that USB 4.0, which was introduced in 2019, is slowly starting to take its place in the market, we can say that we will have to wait another year or two for USB4 V2.0.
