What is Sweet

Sweetness is produced by the presence of sugars, some proteins and a few other substances affecting our tongue's taste receptors. The chemically different compounds that activate our tongue's sweet taste receptors include: sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose)

How can sweets make you happy?

There are some facts that make our lives sweet and happy let's talk about that facts.

  1. When we eat sweet foods the brain's reward system — called the mesolimbic dopamine system — gets activated. (Dopamine is a chemical that gives you happiness naturally.)

  2. Sweets digest easily and directly and give you a boost of energy and morale.

  3. Sugar also releases endogenous opioids. These are responsible for the wonderful surge of pleasure you feel when you eat sweet treats.

What are the benefits of eating sweets?

Feeling happy, relaxed and motivated isn’t the only benefit of eating sweets. Sweet treats have some physical health benefits as well, including:

  1. Decreasing your risk of stroke and heart attack — Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidant flavonoids, which are healthy for your heart.

  2. Slowing cancer growth — Cocoa beans contain a chemical called GECGC, which can help your body slow down the fastest-growing types of cancer, including cervical, colon, and leukemia.

  3. Helping you live longer — Science shows if you eat sweet treats at least a few times a month, you’ll live longer than those who didn’t eat any.
